How Jamworks Prevents Loss of Recordings

We understand how important it is to keep your recorded materials safe. To prevent data loss, we have implemented a system that stores recordings locally on your device, even if an upload to our servers is interrupted. Additionally, we offer a manual download option, allowing you to retrieve and upload your recordings manually if needed. This article explains how our application safeguards your recordings.

Local Storage During Recording

When you start recording with Jamworks on your computer or mobile device, the app saves the recording in small chunks locally on your device’s storage.

These chunks remain stored until our servers confirm that the recording has been successfully uploaded.

Uploading begins while the recording is in progress and typically completes shortly after you finish, provided you have a stable internet connection.

Successful Upload Confirmation

Once our servers confirm that the recording has been fully uploaded (meaning all chunks were received and processing can begin), the Jamworks application on your device will delete the local copies to free up storage space.

Handling Upload Failures

If an upload fails due to a lost internet connection, the recording remains safely stored on your device. Don’t worry - Jamworks will continue recording and saving everything locally, even without an internet connection.

Once your device reconnects to the internet, simply launch the Jamworks app, and it will automatically resume the upload process.

What to Do If Your Recording Doesn't Upload

1. Automatic Resume

If the upload was interrupted, restart the app while connected to the internet. The app will detect the stored recording chunks and attempt to upload them automatically. In some cases, rebooting your device may be necessary.

2. Manual Recovery via Download

If the automatic upload does not resume, Jamworks offers a manual recovery option. You can download a ZIP archive for each recording in your upload queue, which includes all stored chunks for that session.

Navigate to the app settings and select the Download Recording Chunks button to retrieve an archive of the locally stored chunks.

You then have two options:

  • Upload the ZIP archive to our website using the Upload Media button. Our system will merge all chunks into a single recording, process it, and allow you to access your AI-generated materials.

  • Send the archive to our support team, and they will assist you in restoring the recording to your account.

Limitations and Future Improvements

While we have implemented robust measures to prevent data loss, certain extreme scenarios may still pose challenges:

  • Device Storage Limitations: If your device runs out of storage, new recordings cannot be saved.

  • Uninstallation: If you uninstall or reinstall the app before the upload is complete or before downloading the chunks, the recording may be permanently lost.

Key Takeaways

  • Jamworks stores recording chunks locally until the upload is successfully confirmed.

  • If an upload fails, recordings remain on your device and can be manually recovered.

  • The upload process resumes automatically when you reconnect to the internet and relaunch the app.

  • A manual download option allows users to retrieve and restore recordings if needed.

  • Future improvements will include better storage notifications and enhanced user guidance.

We are committed to continuously improving our app to ensure you never lose your recordings.
