Jamworks isn't all about highlighting, you can also type your own notes too. Whilst you're recording, click on the 'Write notes' button at the top of the application.

This will open your notepad. You can add general notes about the lecture in the 'Recording Notes' box. You'll also get an additional note box for each highlight you create.
