JamA11y

Learn how to convert, edit, and export accessible documents using JamA11y, our document remediation tool.

To get started, navigate to the JamA11y tab and select "Upload PDF file"

You'll then have two options depending on your document type.

To add accessibility features without changing the layout or visual appearance of your PDF, select "PDF to PDF/UA Conversion". This adds tag structure, alt text, and metadata to bring the file in line with the PDF/UA standard.

Once processing is complete, select "Download PDF" to save your accessible file.

For documents with STEM content, complex layouts, or scanned and handwritten content, select "PDF to HTML Conversion". This converts your file to WCAG AA-compliant HTML and opens a document editor where you can make any final adjustments.

Once processing is complete, select "View" to open the document editor.

The document editor includes standard text editing tools alongside several dedicated remediation features.

Select "Show Original PDF" to view your original document side-by-side with the editor, making it easier to fine-tune the accessible version.

Select an equation or formula, or click the "MathType" icon, to open the MathType equation editor.

Select "Show Extracted Assets" to view and reinsert images and links that were present in the original PDF.

When you're finished editing, select "Save". To review your document's accessibility score, select "Check Document". When ready, export your accessible document as HTML, DOCX, or PDF/UA.
