JamSlides is a powerful tool that allows you to connect your notes directly to individual slides in a PDF presentation. It's perfect for organising your class notes visually and contextually.

What You’ll Need:

  • The Jamworks desktop app

  • A PDF copy of your lecture slides

  • A class session you plan to record and take notes on

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Start a Recording

  • Open the Jamworks desktop app.

  • Begin recording your class, lecture, or meeting as usual.

Step 2: Click ‘WRITE NOTES’

  • Once the session starts, click on the ‘Write Notes’ button on the top right corner.

  • This will open the note-taking interface.

Step 3: Switch to ‘SLIDE NOTES’

  • Inside the Write Notes menu, choose the ‘SLIDE NOTES’ tab.

  • This is where you’ll be able to upload and interact with your slides.

Step 4: Upload Your PDF Slideshow

  • Click the upload icon and select the PDF file of your slides.

  • This might take a minute to upload.

Step 5: Select the Appropriate Slide

  • As your instructor moves through the lecture, click on the corresponding slide being discussed.

  • You can scroll and jump between slides as needed.

Step 6: Type Your Notes

  • With a slide selected, type your notes into the text field next to it.

  • These notes are saved with that exact slide, so it’s easy to review later.

After Class:

  • Go to your recordings and select the session.

  • Open the JamSlides view to review the slides, see your notes, and add or edit notes post-class for deeper understanding.

Why use JamSlides?

  • Contextual note taking: Notes are attached directly to visual references.

  • Smarter review: Focus on what was said about each slide without backtracking through the entire recording.

  • Better retention: Seeing slides + notes = stronger memory recall.

  • Combine with Key Points, Summaries, and Jamworks AI assistant to maximise learning .

Bonus Tip:

If your instructor shares slides after class, no problem- you can upload the PDF at any time in the final recording and still match your notes to the relevant parts of the session!
